General Assembly of European Microscopy Society

This year, the annual General Assembly will be held at the EMS Extension MC2009 in Graz at Thursday, September 3, 2009. The purpose of the meeting is that the 5.500 EM-members will gather, discuss and determine the framework in which they communicate and cooperate. The rules say that all paid-up EMS members, including members of the Executive Board, have one vote. The General Assembly will be chaired by the President of EMS, Paul Midgley. Decisions are taken by a simple majority of votes – except for changes of the statutes.

– Approval of the minutes of the 2008 General Assembly held during the EMS congress EMC 2008 in Aachen
– Report of the President, describing the activities of the Executive Board and the EMS in the period Sep. 2008 – Aug.  2009
– Status EMC 2012, EMS Extension 2010, EMS sponsored events
– Report of the Treasurer for the year 2008
– Budget prospects for the year 2009
– Concept budget for the year 2010
– Report of the financial auditors over the period 2004-2008
– Prospect on EMS activities

Helping Web Resources for Academia

Agilent Technologies has launched a comprehensive academic resource web site for scientists worldwide seeking information about funding, collaborations, teaching tools, internships and other critical information like urgent submission deadlines. Additionally, a landing page was created that provides access to data and specifications via grant-application toolkits as well as support for grant preparation that targets U.S. stimulus funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
