Euro-BioImaging: First Stakeholder Meeting

From September 21-22, 2009 the first stakeholder meeting of Euro-BioImaging will take place at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. The goal of Euro-BioImaging project is to establish a pan-European imaging infrastructure for biological and medical research. It will provide access to state of the art imaging technologies, training and a continuous development of imaging research technologies. The aim of the stakeholder meeting is to gather eminent representatives of the scientific community, funding and governmental organisations, and industry with particular interest in biomedical imaging and to discuss potential participation as well as the content and structure of this infrastructure project. General Assembly of European Microscopy Society

This year, the annual General Assembly will be held at the EMS Extension MC2009 in Graz at Thursday, September 3, 2009. The purpose of the meeting is that the 5.500 EM-members will gather, discuss and determine the framework in which they communicate and cooperate. The rules say that all paid-up EMS members, including members of the Executive Board, have one vote. The General Assembly will be chaired by the President of EMS, Paul Midgley. Decisions are taken by a simple majority of votes – except for changes of the statutes.

– Report of the President, describing the activities of the Executive Board and the EMS in the period Sep. 2008 – Aug.  2009

Euro Atomic Force Microscopy Forum

Asylum Research, in conjunction with IMETUM, Nano Initiative Munich, and Atomic Force F&E, announces the 2nd Euro AFM Forum to be held at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Garching, Germany, July 1-3, 2009. The event is a conference for AFM researchers to share their cutting-edge research for both materials and life science applications. The forum will combine invited and contributed talks from leading European researchers as well as instructional workshops on AFM equipment. Workshop topics include cell imaging, imaging in liquids, force spectroscopy, electrical characterization and more.
Participants are invited to submit their best AFM image for the Forum Image Contest. An iPod Nano will be awarded for the best image that represents innovative science and has the „cool“ factor. The deadline for submission is June 1, 2009.
