International Light Scattering Colloquium

Wyatt Technology Corporation will host its 20th Annual International Light Scattering Colloquium (ILSC) on October 19-20, 2009 at the Four Seasons Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara, California, US. The event will welcome an array of high-profile speakers including Nobel Prize winner, Professor Robert Grubbs. In conjunction with the 20th annual ILSC, Wyatt Technology will also be hosting an Eclipse Field Flow Fractionation – MALS Focus Meeting on October 21, 2009. In this meeting the application focus will be proteins, biopolymers and liposome/virus particles.

Photonica Expo 2009

The international exhibition on photonics and optoelectronics will be back at Milan Fair Centre from Nov. 25-27. Chinas Photonics Market Continues to Grow

From March 17-19, LASER World of PHOTONICS China 2009 took place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. The exposition maintained its positive growth trend this year. It occupied a total exhibition area of 9,000 m². In addition, 220 exhibitors from 14 countries participated, which represents an improvement of 6.8% over 2008. Attendee participation outpaced the expectations of both the organizers and exhibitors alike. A number of over 22,000 visitors from 32 nations and districts participated, which represents an increase of 20% over last year. The next event will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Center from March 16-18, 2010.

International Optoelectronics Expo

From Sep. 6-9, 2009 the 11th China International Optoelectronics Expo (CIOE) will take place in the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, China. It address to representatives working in the fields of optoelectronics manufacturing, automotive and aerospace, microelectronics manufacturing, semiconductors, mechanical engineering and processing, biotechnology, pharmaceutical technology as well as in research, science and government institutions. The 2009 CIOE will present the three sub-expositions on 70,000 m²:
– Optical communications, sensors, lasers and infrared applications expo
– Precision optics expo
– LED expo

World of Photonics

In June 2009, two international events for optical technologies in Europe will once again take place in Munich, Germany. From June 15-18, the New Munich Trade Fair Centre will host the exposition „LASER World of PHOTONICS“ and from June 14-19 the „World of Photonics Congress“ will be held at the International Congress Centre Munich. Both events address to representatives from research, the laser and optoelectronics industries, professionals involved in medicine and technology as well as physicists, chemists, doctors, engineers, system designers, retail companies and service-providers. This year, the trade show and the congress have expanded their offerings for biophotonics and life sciences. The trade show is setting up an exhibition focus area dedicated to the subject of biophotonics. The World of Photonics Congress will present the field of biophotonics at the „Medical Laser Applications“ conference. Experts in the field of lasers in medicine, optical diagnostics, high-end endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery will give practically orientated presentations.

Jenoptik Strengthens Presence in China

The Jenoptik Group has expanded its international presence. The Industrial Metrology division of the optoelectronic group acquired parts of the Chinese company Shanghai AES Auto Equipment (AES) and will amalgamate these with its existing activities. AES, with registered offices in Shanghai, was formed in 2004 and specializes in amongst other things the development, assembly and sale of industrial metrology and assembly technology for the Chinese automotive industry.

Interim CEO for Carl Zeiss Vision International

Carl Zeiss Vision International announced a change in its management board. For personal reasons, Dr. Norbert Gorny, CEO of Carl Zeiss Vision, has decided to leave the company. In his role as CEO, he was also responsible for the integration of Sola International which Carl Zeiss Vision acquired in 2004. Arne Frank, chairman of the advisory board of Carl Zeiss Vision will act as interim CEO and lead the company together with the executive board members Klaus Leinmüller and Dr. Raymund Heinen, until a new long term CEO has been appointed. Frank is a senior industrial advisor of the private equity company EQT and in this role chairman of the advisory board of the company which is equally owned by EQT and Carl Zeiss.
