General Assembly of European Microscopy Society

This year, the annual General Assembly will be held at the EMS Extension MC2009 in Graz at Thursday, September 3, 2009. The purpose of the meeting is that the 5.500 EM-members will gather, discuss and determine the framework in which they communicate and cooperate. The rules say that all paid-up EMS members, including members of the Executive Board, have one vote. The General Assembly will be chaired by the President of EMS, Paul Midgley. Decisions are taken by a simple majority of votes – except for changes of the statutes.

– Report of the President, describing the activities of the Executive Board and the EMS in the period Sep. 2008 – Aug.  2009

– Report of the Treasurer for the year 2008

– Report of the financial auditors over the period 2004-2008

Microscopy Conference in Graz

In 2009, Austria will host the 9^th Multinational Congress on Microscopy and the Dreiländertagung, presenting the joint meeting Microscopy Conference (MC) 2009. The MC will take place from Aug. 30 to Sep. 4, 2009 in Graz. The main areas covered will be instrumentation and methodology, materials science and life science. The program comprises plenary lectures, keynote lectures, poster sessions, symposia and workshops. Special emphasis will be given on the poster presentations, which means a considerable time will be allocated to the presentations and discussion of the posters. During the conference there will be a trade exhibition displaying modern instruments and state-of-the-art developments in microscopy. The venue of the Microscopy Conference will be Congress Graz in the historic city center of Graz.
